I’m in Europe right now, and I came across this interesting piece of furniture – mobile bed. A clever hybrid between a murphy bed and a loft bed, this piece can maximize space and create multifunctional areas (a concept particularly useful for shoebox dwellers). The bed is simply lifted to the ceiling when not in use, allowing you to enjoy the extra room. And, unlike murphy or loft beds, the mobile bed doesn’t require you to climb any stairs or adjust messy bedding. Simply lower it down when you’re ready to turn in for the night. Quite brilliant. Available for purchase here.

Great, although I’d prefer wall beds like the ones Bonbon builds, as I didn’t want to have a massive bed above my head while working ;-) Do you know any further manufacturers who specialize in furniture for compact living?

Not sure I’d want to be so far from the ground in case I forgot where I was, unless I had a railing. But this is cute furniture.

This is beautiful! It’s so much nicer than a foldaway, especially with the little lights underneath. I love how the colors are coordinated with all the other furniture and wall art in the space. It doesn’t preclude a whole lot of wall space like a hideaway bed would.
