If you are blessed with a proper workspace at home – that’s fantastic for you. If not, check out this clever item by San-Francisco based studio iSkelter. Slate Mobile AirDesk is cut from a block of pure, renewable bamboo. It is ultra lightweight, strong, and it absorbs the heat from your laptop. The studio’s tagline “hand-built in America by people who give a damn” seems especially appropriate for this product. This delightful collection of flat pack pieces, called Muzzle, has been created by Lisbon based designer Miguel Lopes in collaboration with the studio Paratelier. Thanks to the slot-in assembly principle, each piece is very easy to put together and take apart. The design objective was to create a line that “with an industrial character, flexible and dynamic, an interaction that would be intuitive and playful.” The result is a beautiful collection of puzzle-like pieces, colorful, fun and 100% recyclable. Available for purchase here.
Oxymoron Desk is an unusual workstation, created by Spanish designer Anna Lotova. Fitted with a cushy pocket, the desk combines an open desktop with an ample (though rather unexpected) storage solution. Designer elaborates: “Oxymoron is a workplace with a lot of attitude but in a sober manner where the details highlight the profile you want for the moment. It represents an interaction between two physically opposite materials, in which they give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.” The piece shows a beautiful contrast between a traditional desk structure and fun and relaxed, almost garment-like, storage, allowing creativity and self-discipline coexist.
Holiday food prep can be tough and stressful, but nothing takes the edge off it like the right tools. Consider this beauty – Epicurean Modular Cutting Board, versatile enough to prepare any meal, yet able to fit in the dishwasher and be stored easily. The piece is inspired by restaurant chefs and consists of two interlocking panels. One side of each panel is smooth, which creates a large flat prep area when they’re both used together. A juice groove sits on the other side of one panel and a bread surface on the other. Because the two parts of the surface are independent and two-sided, you can join them together in a variety of configurations to handle whatever tasks are at hand. Each piece can also be used alone. Perfect! A great gift for a cook on your list. Available for purchase here.

Made from birch plywood, it is sturdy and abuse-resistant. MAXintheBOX is easy to assemble and dismantle for easy storage.
