Procrastinators, rejoice! There is still time to pick a few extra special items for someone you have forgotten to put on your list (there are always folks we never remember until the last nanosecond). Another vital point is that the gift-giving does not always end at the Crimbo morning (in my experience, anyway). There’ll be parties, office gatherings, drinks with friends and colleagues, you name it. So, if you need to stock up on some universally lovable items, there is no better place to search for them than Uncommon Goods. After the break I go over my picks and personal favorites.
One of my favorite design blogs, Minimalissimo, is putting together a print edition of its strongest articles. Visually stunning, just like the blog it derived from, Minimalissimo magazine will feature minimalism in architecture, art, fashion, graphic & package design, and industrial design. You will also be able to read interviews with renown artists and learn about their unique perspective on the art of less. The first limited edition of the magazine is now Kickstarting.
My friend Bronwyn Marshall fixed this little Holiday greeting, which I thought was utterly cool… So, ladies and gents of small spaces. Have a lovely Crimbo break! Enjoy the two mentioned activities, and I’ll see y’all later this week. Merry Christmas!
A big thank you goes to Module R for sponsoring Shoebox Dwelling! Module R is a fine Brooklyn-based shop, featuring cool customizable art and design. I’ve been a fan of their selection for a long, long time. In our city they are a “go to” place for modular storage, interactive toys (for kinds of all ages), stylish designy accessories, awesome screens and dividers and much more. Check them out!

Lovely readers, pardon the silence this week. The entire editorial staff of Shoebox Dwelling (me) is rigorously packing due to a long-awaited move to Manhattan (read – even shoeboxier dwelling). Wish me luck, and I’ll see you soon!
Folks! I would like to introduce an enhancement – the mobile version of Shoebox Dwelling got optimized today. This change came with a story. My reader, Kyle, emailed me recently and shared his thoughts about the user experience of the site. He pointed out that reading it on the go made him frustrated by its lack of mobile-friendliness. And, being a media developer, he wrote a code to fix the problem. As you can see from the before and after shots above, the new mobile version is much more streamlined, it zooms on the posts right away and eliminates side-scrolling. Also, if you wish to place a Shoebox Dwelling bookmark on the screen of your device, you will get a minimalist, easy on the eye icon (a small detail, but an aesthetically crucial one for some finicky people, author included). I hope you guys enjoy these improvements. Thank you for this beautiful gesture, Kyle!
