sugr1

Sugr Cube is a smart Wifi speaker that takes virtually no space and packs a lot of power for such a small device. It supports AirPlay, features built-in Spotify connect and allows you to enjoy all your streaming music apps out loud. Intuitive controls make Sugr Cube easy to use by even the most technically impaired. Tap the top of Cube for PLAY/STOP. Tilt Cube left/right 45° for PREVIOUS/ NEXT. It’s that easy. And because it is made of solid wood, it provides a decent sound quality too. Watch the video after the break to see Sugr Cube in action. Available for purchase here.

If you are a frequent reader of this blog, you probably know about my obsession with trash. I believe that the search for the ultimate waste system never ends in one’s life. That being said, I just encountered a solid contender for the title – Totem by Joseph Joseph. This tall trashcan is comprised of two compartments, which in turn can be divided further to fit all of your recycling needs in one sleek object. Space-saving OCD heaven! Available for purchase here.

lafonction_no2-2-le-valet-cuir-beige-face3-website

Le Valet has been designed by the French studio La Fonction. With its refined frame, it divides space, which is already useful in a small apartment. In addition to that, the piece holds small items, provides a mirror (elegantly attached by two leather straps) and three hooks for clothing or bathrobe. It is also a lovely item to give to a house guest, allowing for privacy and a bit of organization. Le Valet is made of solid wood and comes in eight finishes. Available for purchase here.

woodendot-auxiliary-batea-table-blue-scene

Batea is an auxiliary table, designed by Daniel García and María J. Vargas for Woodendot. The piece features a slick serving tray that can make your entertaining, lounging with a drink, or an occasional TV dinner that much more elegant. Batea is composed of a tray, a lacquered metal structure, and three solid wooden legs easy to assembly. Solid natural ash wood has been used for color finishes and solid oak wood for the natural ones. Procrastinators, rejoice! There is still time to pick a few extra special items for someone you have forgotten to put on your list (there are always folks we never remember until the last nanosecond). Another vital point is that the gift-giving does not always end at the Crimbo morning (in my experience, anyway). There’ll be parties, office gatherings, drinks with friends and colleagues, you name it. So, if you need to stock up on some universally lovable items, there is no better place to search for them than Uncommon Goods. After the break I go over my picks and personal favorites.

The Tail End. A compelling visualization of human life.

Awesome cocktail infographic, just in time for the drinking season.

– I really love this minimalist clock.

– Nendo designed a beautiful and compact survival pack.

All week I wished I had this sign.

– This ghost dog made me LOL.

Netflix socks pause your video when you doze off. For real.

– Never gets old. Star Wars described by a non-fan (profanity).

Hilarious ad campaign for a fashion retailer.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks!

Poggenpohl-plinth-vacuum-cleaner-2

This invention would make any cook instantly happy. Poggenpohl‘s Plinth is a great compromise between a standalone vacuum cleaner and a central vacuum system. It is incorporated into the kitchen unit itself, ready to pick up any crumbs or scraps falling on the floor. No dustpans, no bending. Just sweep your schmutz towards the discreet vent, and the powerful suction will do the rest. The vacuum bags need to be changed, though, just like in a traditional vacuum cleaner. The only wish now is to have this product in a cabinet that is a tag less pricey.

Here is another noteworthy Kickstarter campaign – Grasslamp. The Grasslamp is an elegant combination of a grass planter and an ambient LED light. The piece will let you grow wheatgrass without soil and fertilizers and display it beautifully inside a lighting fixture. You can also grow up to 40 different micro-greens, including wheatgrass, micro-salads and edible flowers. And if you have a cat, Grasslamp can be a nice lasting alternative to the sad disposable grass containers you buy at a pet store.

cable-organizer_grande

If you love tech as much as I do, you can probably also relate to the cordage problem. Cables and wires can easily dominate your workspace, if you don’t show them who’s boss. This clever product by Poketo allows you to do just that, without spending a fortune. Thanks to its grid structure and flexible nobs, this organizer can hold a wide variety of cables. And the adhesive back allows you to easily attach it to any surface, vertical or horizontal. Poketo organizer comes in a set of two and can be purchased here.

The sleek looking backboards are easily mounted on the wall and can house various attachments, anything from a cup holder to shelving and planters. Glance’s slotted design promises more stability than an average pegboard does. Watch the video after the break to see the product in action.
