Suburbia1

I’m a big fan of Note studio designs, and this one is especially delightful. Suburbia is a wall storage, created for Italian brand Seletti. The piece is made to resemble the bird’s-eye view of a town. Each cubby represents a house or a section of a building. Adorable! The piece is made from wood with brass details.

Seating and storage are the things any home needs more of. So Sweden based designers Kyuhyung Cho and Hironori Tsukue obliged and created the Oneness collection, consisting of two chairs and a low table that can be flipped, stacked and turned into a shelving unit. Designers explain their vision: “The multifunctional purpose and extendable system can enrich a variety of spaces from office to home, through its simple, combinable and modern form inspired by the fusion of East Asian and Scandinavian design.” The assembly is easy and intuitive – the structure is fixed by connecting each element with a clip inserted into small holes on the corners of the chair or table. This way you can build your storage as high and wide as you like by adding more chairs and tables. When the chair is turned upside down to make a shelf, it reveals a hidden space on the bottom of the back for books and other small objects. Oneness is made from Finnish natural birch plywood.

plisado-news-2013-by-karl-andersson-soner-6

Swedish design studio Karl Andersson & Söner created this casual and stylish storage ladder, called Plisado. The piece consists of a wooden frame and canvas slings that can hold anything from papers and magazines to items of clothing, toys, accessories and more. Plisado is one of those ingenious storage solutions that provide extra space while taking none of it by themselves. The fabric comes in red or charcoal; and the frames, made of solid ash, can be finished in clear lacquer or brushed in gray.

Knock Knock is a simple and versatile shelving system by German design company Hoj Studio. The unit is modular and consists of the tree basic components that are attached to each other via braces. From these parts you can create a bookshelf, a kitchen cabinet, a desk with flexible storage, an entryway piece, and more. The combinations are endless. The Knock Knock shelving is made of solid oak and purposely left semi-finished, so you can personalize it further (or not). Check out the video after the break to see the assembly of the piece in action.

When it comes to clutter – it’s all about the little things. Without a proper place they tend to accumulate and create visual frenzy. There is a lot to love about this modular shelving system by Norman Hadler. It is lightweight, easy to install and made to fit any space, big or small. Innovative lap joints create stable, aesthetically-pleasing configurations of horizontal and vertical plywood panels. The shelf is just as easy to take apart for moving and storage. And if your space requirements change you can purchase additional panels to accommodate it. The panels come in different sizes, which lets your to expand the variety of design and planning possibilities. Watch the video after the break to see Skalor in action.

Raster

I love pegboards. They create tons of storage, they’re easy to install and adapt to a particular scenario, and their neutral design allows us to apply them virtually in any room. German designer Halfmann Mennickheim must have felt the same about the humble item, because he went to some creative lengths with it. By bending the perforated surface he made it into shelving. The move multiplied storage possibilities while still allowing you to mount hooks. He called his creation Raster, which means “grid” in German. Needless to say, the piece can serve equally well as an entryway item, kitchen storage, kids’ room storage and more.
