There is a theory that standing while working at the computer is good for our health. There is also a theory that the opposite is true. While this great egg controversy is taking place, young French designer Jérémy Guénolé created a desk that allows to alternate the two approaches. The piece, called Postures, features different levels and encourages movement, which cannot be bad for anyone. ‘Starting from different work situations of a creative, I drew a range of hybrid furnitures that comply with the concept of wellness.’ – says the designer.

On average, humans “think” 45% more efficiently while standing. It’s in our nature as animals. When was the last time you saw a lion take down a gazelle while it was sitting or laying down? Didn’t think so. When I work in my home office, I stand. When I go to work, I go into a cube and sit at a desk. People I work with are on long conference calls, or just sitting for long periods of time… but some make a point of standing up, walking around, stretching, and staying standing up for a few minutes. Gets the blood flowing, hence the increased brain action, and the hunter / farmer instincts kicking in. I know the difference, and it’s true. Standing at home is better than sitting at work. ha ha. Yes, sitting is sometimes a good thing, but 80% of your day doing it? Please. Stand up and take notice.
