The piece called Kammerspiel (Intimate Theatre) is the largest piece of furniture the German designer Nils Holger Moormann ever created. And its role is to rethink the approach to living in a small space. The item includes sleeping, eating, working, and reading areas. A staircase that doubles as a set of drawers leads to the bedroom level. The inside of the cube provides space for the walk-in closet and pantry. See more photos after the break.

Tom Villa of Superorganism came up with this idea of a strong but lightweight structure that creates a private retreat within an existing space. The piece has wheels for easy positioning in the apartment, it is hinged to open in two halves. The interior is easily reconfigurable to serve a variety of functions – lounge, workspace, reading nook… The use shown here is one of the luxuries we rarely have in a small space – walk-in closet. Thanks to the modularity of the design – you can adapt it to the storage needs you have. The structure is built from plywood and can be covered with different materials.

The Living Cube by German designer Till Koenneker is a clever structure, combining all those elements we usually struggle to find space for in a tiny apartment. It houses a walk-in closet, ample media storage, and serves as a loft bed. Here is how designer describes it: “I moved into a apartment studio without storage room. So I made a minimalistic cube design with a shelf for my vinyl collection, my TV, clothes and shoes. On the cube is a guest bed and inside the cube is a lot of storage space.” The carpentry work was done by Remo Zimmerli of Holzlabor.
