This versatile storage piece can be attached to the wall, shelf, even railing in your closet, and serve as a simple and convenient way to unload your pockets. Made out of birch, without plastic or adhesives, Smartrobe can be assembled in seconds, and taken apart when not needed.
These table trestles by Czech studio Master & Master are a fantastic idea for any small apartment. Stackable and lightweight, they can be used with any tabletop, and stored away when not in use. The trestles are available in five colors and two heights, allowing you to create a dining table/desk or a coffee table. Neat!
This simple and minimalist rack by Karl Mikael Ling is both visually and structurally light. The aluminium mounting plate is simply and discreetly attached to the wall. The hanger then pinches the mounting plate (hence the name of the piece), connecting into precut grooves. When not in use, the hanger can easily be hung flat against the wall. I don’t think I will ever grow tired from the simplicity and functional freedom of the clamp-in table legs. This version, aptly called Adap.Table, is created by two Taiwan based designers Ta Yang Hsu and Francois Elphick. They introduced two versions of the design – Delta and Ribbon, both very elegant. Inspired by international travel, this unusual shelf blends the line between nomadic and permanent. Designed by Assaf Israel for Joynout, the piece consists of a number of modular components, which can be put together in a form of an open wardrobe, a bookcase, or a desk. The poles and the shelves are made of solid wood and the rings tying between the poles are made of Birch plywood. Most of the parts are produced using CNC cutting: a precise and rapid production and the structure is ready to be assembled, using 12 screws only. This exciting Kickstarter project made me look. New Zealand based studio Refold took the most understated material, cardboard, and turned it into something cool, useful and ergonomically advanced. Their cardboard standing desk is foldable, portable, affordable and 100% recyclable. “Weighing only 6.5kg’s our design adds a new dimension to hot desking and fluid workspaces, – designers say, – The portability facilitates a modern workflow, allowing flexibility and aiding collaboration.” Even at home, it makes a lot of sense. The Dots shelving system by Italian studio Aris has taken the peg board idea to a new extreme. Comprised of modular panels, the furniture can be attached to the wall of any height or size – a great call for small and odd spaces. The shelving boxes are attached to the panels via small wooden cylinders, so you can customize and modify the size and capacity of your storage with elegance and ease. The Dots system has already landed a Red Dot Design Award 2014 for Interior Design Elements. Kudos.
This minimalist and inventive shelving system is a great idea for a small space, especially if you like to change things around. Aptly called Backpack, the system is comprised from wooden shelves that are held together by straps. It requires only four mounting points and allows changing the length of the straps, providing you with a useful adjustable storage solution. Backpack is quite a looker too, and neutral enough to apply it in many different settings. The shelves are made from laminated wood, coated with white melanin.
